Crossbar Challenge

Three attempts, one bar to hit. Every crossbar you find keeps the run alive, raises the multiplier and pushes the shooting position further back. Free, in 3D, no sign-up and nothing to install.

🎯

Ready to take aim?

The game loads in a few seconds. Then choose Training — practice — to play without an account.

Practice mode is free and carries no stakes. The official daily run, which ranks you against other players, needs a free account.

How to play

The principle fits in one sentence: swipe the screen, or drag the mouse, towards the crossbar. The shape of your gesture matters as much as its direction — by curving the movement you bend the ball and recover angles that a flat shot could never reach.

Hitting the bar

Score and multiplier both rise, and so does the difficulty — but the attempt is not consumed. That is the heart of the game: a good run can last a long time.

Everything else

Post, goal, wide or over: the attempt is gone. You have three, and scoring is mathematically a mistake.

The distance

It grows as you succeed. The further the shooting position retreats, the more decisive the curve becomes.

Three tips for a long run

  • Do not aim at the goal. The natural instinct is to look for the top corner: that is exactly what you must not do. Your target is the bar itself, and a goal costs you an attempt just as a wide shot does.
  • Work on the curve before the power. At the early distances a flat shot is enough. As soon as the shooting position retreats, the bent gesture is what makes the difference.
  • Slow down after a success. The difficulty rises immediately after every bar you hit. Rushing the next shot is what ends the most promising runs.

The other mini-games

Crossbar Challenge is only the first of the set. Penalties put you against the goalkeeper in sudden death, while free kicks and keepy-uppies are in preparation. All are reachable from the same menu, and practice mode stays free.

And behind the mini-games, a management game

These mini-games are part of Foot-Land, an online football management game that has been running since 2004. You run your own club there: a squad to train, a stadium to expand, finances to keep in order, transfers to negotiate, and one match a day against another manager, played in real time across ninety minutes.

With a free account your mini-game scores start counting: they enter the official leaderboard and earn daily bonuses for your club.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to play?
No. Practice mode starts immediately, with no sign-up and no installation. A free account is only needed for the official daily run, which records your score on the leaderboard.
What language is the mini-game in?
The mini-game interface is in French, like the rest of Foot-Land for now. It is mostly buttons and numbers, so it is easy enough to follow, but it is fair to say so before you press play. An English version is being worked on.
How do I score points?
Every crossbar you hit raises your score, your combo multiplier and the difficulty, without using up an attempt. Any other outcome — post, goal, wide or over — costs you one of your three attempts.
How do I shoot?
You swipe the screen, or drag the mouse, towards the bar. The curve of your gesture bends the ball: that is what lets you recover a difficult angle as the distance grows.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It is built for touch as much as for a mouse, and runs in the mobile browser with nothing to install.
How long does a run last?
Roughly one to two minutes. You get three attempts, and every bar you hit extends the run while making it harder.
Are there other mini-games?
Yes — penalties are available too, and free kicks and keepy-uppies are in the works. They are all reachable from the same menu.
