VITH FC EXHIBITION: A MASTERCLASS IN HOW NOT TO PLAY FOOTBALL
In what can only be described as a public service announcement for why some teams should consider taking up knitting instead of professional sports, Vith FC hosted a masterclass in total futility against FC BRESSE. The final score of 0-6 is actually generous; it implies that Vith FC was present on the pitch, whereas, in reality, they spent ninety minutes providing a scenic backdrop for their opponents' shooting practice. With zero shots—cadrés or otherwise—and a tactical philosophy that seemed to consist entirely of collecting yellow cards, the home side turned their stadium into a sanctuary for pure, unadulterated chaos. 🤡
For FC BRESSE, this was less of a football match and more of a Tuesday afternoon stroll in the park. They racked up nine shots on target, treating the Vith FC goalkeeper like a training cone that occasionally moved. The barrage began in the 40th minute and didn't stop until the final whistle, with the visitors dismantling the opposition's defense with the clinical efficiency of a surgeon—if that surgeon was fueled by pure adrenaline and a desire to humiliate. Even a set-piece in the 75th minute found the back of the net, proving that FC BRESSE didn't even need to work hard to find the gaps in a team that clearly forgot where the goal was supposed to be.
The only thing Vith FC managed to lead in was the foul count, racking up seven infractions and two yellow cards, presumably because they were frustrated by the sight of the ball constantly flying into their own net. It was a bleak, miserable performance that left their fans wondering if the players had mistaken the pitch for a local library where silence and inactivity are encouraged. Meanwhile, FC BRESSE heads home with a clean sheet and a confidence boost that could last them the entire season, leaving the rest of us to wonder if Vith FC is currently accepting applications for a new squad—or perhaps a new sport entirely. ⚽
